Some R&R in KZN

10 December 2006 · 5 Comments

AmphitheaterGautango will be moving out of Gauteng for the week starting Dec. 11. We’re going to spend a few days in the Drakensberg Mountains on the Lesotho border, in Kwazulu Natal province.

According to a friend of ours, the Drakensberg (literally Dragon Mts.) are so beautiful that “you feel guilty going there without a significant other.” During the summer, thousands of Johannesburg tourists make the 3-6 hour drive south (with or without their s.o.) to the mountains, and accomodation is hard to come by.

By a stroke of luck we got a reservation. There is a chalet and legendary hiking trails waiting for us.

Here is an article in Getaway to Africa magazine that describes the specific area where we will spend the week.

I will personally promise excellent stories when we return, so be sure to check back in next weekend.
